Parent Involvement Policy
North Elementary is a Title I school that receives federal funds which provide Title I services to all students. Title I services include: individual/small group instruction, reading assessment, parent involvement, parent volunteers, tutoring, summer reading program, and parent workshops.
An important component of the Title I program is parent involvement. With parent help, we can increase student achievement and make sure your child succeeds!

Demographics
Built in 1976, North Elementary School is situated at the north end of Randolph County and serves the rural Montrose/Kerens area as well as North Randolph Avenue and the Highland Park neighborhood. The total student population is approximately 260 students in grades PreK-5 with an average class size of 19.6. In addition to thirteen classroom teachers and one administrator, the students are served by one music teacher and one physical education teacher. One special education teacher and two Title I teachers serve as interventionists. A part-time extended studies teacher works with qualifying students. The school also has a full-time guidance counselor and a speech therapist.
Eighty-six percent of the teaching staff has a master's degree or higher level of education.

Parents
Please remember that all individuals who come into our school, except employees and students, are considered Visitors to our building. To ensure the safety of all, we ask that all visitors check in at the office upon arrival through the front door and get a visitor's pass if you need to go somewhere in the building.
Parent Lunch Procedure
- Parents and/or relatives of our students are encouraged to come and eat lunch at school with their children or relatives occasionally.
- Lunch visitors may come to eat any day they choose - - we do ask that you call the school office by 8:00 a.m. to make a reservation on the day you wish to eat hot lunch.
- Lunch tickets for adults must be purchased in the office and the cost of an adult lunch this year is $3.75.
- All visitors need to wait for their children to come down before entering the lunchroom. Please wait by the water fountain at the kitchen entrance.
- Give the computer operator your lunch ticket before obtaining a tray.
- Please note that all lunches include 1 milk and 1 trip to the salad bar. (Hot Lunch Guidelines)
- Visitors are asked to sit at the Parent Lunch Table with your child/family members only.
- Whenever your child's group starts to clean up by scraping their trays, it is your child's signal to do the same. Your child needs to join his or her group at this time.
- We do ask Visitors to exit the lunchroom and school when finished and not to report to the classroom or recess with the child.
- Please follow the school lunch schedule. The lunch schedule is as follows:
10:50 - Kindergarten
10:55 - 1st Grade
11:00 - 2nd Grade
11:05 - Preschool
11:20 - 3rd Grade
11:25 - 4th Grade
11:30 - 5th Grade
**2 hour and 3 hour delays - use normal lunch schedule
**2 hour early dismissal - use normal lunch schedule
***3 hour early dismissal - use the following schedule

Media of Your Child
During the course of the year, we will be taking your child's picture and/ or video taping activities going on around the school that may include your child. The pictures and videos are often displayed at the school and may be used to publicize activities at our school in the news media. If you prefer that your child's picture not be used in this manner, please let the school know as soon as possible.
